Given that the previous G2 Jazz and Sideswipe toys were released with two fellow Diaclone-based wavemates, this Mirage figure would probably have been released alongside orange Jazz and yellow Sideswipe. In an unusual coincidence, Transformers fan and rarities-hunter Maziar Shahsafdari unveiled a pictorial review of the mock-up done for this redeco on his website shortly after the book came out, entirely unaware of its inclusion in the tome.
